Berea, known as the Folk Arts and Crafts Capital of Kentucky, is a quaint and very attractive cultural town located where the Bluegrass meets the Appalachian. The many authentic arts and crafts shops on College Square and in Old Town give the visitor endless shopping options. The new Artisan Center that represents an array of topnotch artits from across the Bluegrass region is a must see.
Berea is the home of of one the most respected and successful liberal arts colleges in the South according to the U.S. News Today. This small college has 1600 students and is situated in the heart of town on a well-trimmed and green campus. It is also here we find the newly renovated Hotel Boone Tavern. All beds are handmade by the Berea College Crafts Program, and students will welcome you at the door with Southern hospitality and charm.
Berea College has a strong and vibrant relationship with Denmark and its exchange program is fairly extensive.
Berea is located on I-75, only 30 miles south of Lexington, and 100 miles from Louisville and Cincinnati. We are 7-8 hours south of Chicago. 6-7 hours north of Atlanta. 12-14 hours from New York.

Airports: Nearest airports are Bluegrass Airport in Lexington (LEX), 40 miles, Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati International Airport (CVG), 100 miles, and Louisville, 100 miles. All major rental car companies are located at the airports.
Kentucky is about 2,5 times larger than Denmark and has approx. 4.5 million inhabitants. Frankfort is the capital, and Louisville the largest city, the 25th in the US, with more than 1 million people. Lexington is a financial center where I-64 and I-75 meet.
Politics: Out of the last 44 years, the governor has been a Democrat for 40 years. However, senator McCain won the presidential election here in 2008.
